Image by bicyclesonly A bike box is needed here at West 77th Street and Columbus Avenue, to facilitate westbound bicyclists in crossing over the path of motor vehicle traffic, as the switch from right-hand to left-hand bike lane at Columbus Avenue requires them to do. The absence of the bike box creates needless, dangerous conflict in the middle of a busy intersection.
